My Old Kentucky Home
I always enjoy going back to my hometown to visit family and friends. This time of year is particularly lovely due to the excitement of the Kentucky Derby. Fireworks, parades, boat races, celebrities, hats and horses! Louisville is a wonderful city that I will miss greatly in the years to come when I have moved even farther away.
(I don't really like parades)
Live Long and Prosper
My day did not end with blowing glass...
Driving to the glass factory, I came across a sign. A sign that brought feelings of extreme happiness and a momentary freak out. A sign that read 'Star Trek Exhibit' in gloriously large font. Oh euphoria! Can you guess where I went after blowing glass? Let's just say I now have a picture of myself in the transporter getting ready to be beamed up. Now you may ask the question, why isn't that photo posted? Easy answer. I have an irrational love for Spock, and Zachary Quinto exacerbates this.

Glass Blowing
As I woke up this morning, my excitement grew anticipating the activities I had planned for the day ahead. Being a person as appreciative of art as I, glass blowing would be a memorable activity with a beautiful artistic keepsake. After shaking hands with Ben, my adorable guide to the world of blowing glass, I was now ready to create! In front of me sat roughly a dozen colors, of which I choose two for my glass sphere; amber and white. Seemed like the combo would turn out lovely in the end, and Ben simply had to throw in that this was his favorite color combination. Of course it is Ben.
The next part can only be described with one word, awkward. As the molten blob of liquid glass sits at the end of this hollow stick, you must blow on the opposite end as Ben rotates the rod evenly.
*Remember not to blow too hard or too soft. Though you are told when you need to blow harder or vis versa.
Attempting to keep a pole in your mouth and continuously blowing into it, whilst it is rotating back and forth...needless to say I felt awkward. Perhaps it was my dirty mind making me chuckle, or the fact I had an audience of about 20 children touring the studio and watching my every move. All and all the experience was quite enjoyable and one I shan't be forgetting soon! In the end I was also told by Ben that I did a great job blowing glass. Of course I did Ben, of course I did.

Nothing Inspires Quite Like Your Melody
When in need of some inspiration, music is the greatest cure. Just sit and listen to the world around you. The beauty you will find is astounding.
Marvelous 1...
Oh Butch Walker, your music is amazing and you are sexy.
"And I can't live if you're not happy,
I can't live if you cry,
But I can live without you if it makes you smile
And I can't wait to see you rise
And I can't wait for you to shine
But I can wait for you if all you need is time " -Butch Walker
